Criticizing Laughter

February 1st, 2009 by erinsky200701

There are some weird people nowadays. They frown on people who laugh. Are they envious? Maybe not! Or are they insecured? Hmmm… somewhat maybe… But these antisocial psychos are real people. Some of them even has a degree. But look! Problems everywhere. Well we might put our selves on their shoes and end up to nothing at all. The drama nowadays - laugh on life. All of us has some bunch of problems especially now that our global economy plunges into recession. If we keep on thinking of our problems at the end of the day we will get dumbed. Let’s just think that each one of us has an asset that others don’t have even how problematic our life could be. Those who frown to us because they aren’t impressed on what we are doing are the ones who cannot do anything productive at all. Try and try and try … until you succeed! Have a positive view in life and make the best of it!

NOBODY KNOWS

September 11th, 2008 by erinsky200701

There’s a part of us that is always silent. Our “unknown self.” Many psycho geniuses tried to look for a way to peek into this aspect of personality but everyone failed. Some experts even claim that it doesn’t exist. But is there really an “unknown self”?

I will tell you the answer on my next blog so please watch out for it.

Why We Should Be Thankful

March 20th, 2008 by erinsky200701

Most of the time, we are complaining of what we have even if the cause is very shallow. That’s incintentment. In this very imperfect life we seem to have no limits in our dreams and wishes. We strive for perfection yet always remorse on the way coz sometimes we realize that there’s no means of acheiving a very high goal post.

THINK!

At least you had a good food in your previous meal. How about those in Africa who die of hunger? You had a good night sleep last night on your own bed while the popers are lying on the dirty streets. You have the fashion you want to wear while the street children are contented with their rotten clothes. You have the internet to see the world but the blind has no choice but to listen. You have your friends and relatives who abide you in your progress yet the mentally ill people are neglected, abandoned and harassed. You have all the health and vitality to accomplish your goals while many die of diseases untreated due to poverty. You have a place to call home while some people are running for their lives during a war. YOU HAVE WHAT YOU NEED. YOU JUST DON’T SEE THEIR IMPORTANCE.

What if the world turns its back to you and be in the position of the extremes? Only in a crisis you will learn to appreciate what you have.

Now I know how you feel. You are regretful to your expectations.

Aiming high is not wrong and actually it is upbuilding. What’s wrong is when you step on others because you forget who you are. You are pretentious and you don’t reflect gratitude to your resources: the people around you, mother nature and to God.

So what now is the right thing to do? REFLECT!

You can show your gratitude in 10 SIMPLE WAYS:

1. Pray to God and thank him for all the blessings you receive.

2. Thank your parents / guardians for being there to support you.

3. Show love to your friends through actions not merely expressions.

4. Give mercy to the poor by being charitable and respecting life.

5. Clean up your immediate environment to show that you care.

6. Offer your help to those who need you with all your means

7. Love your pets. They are there to absorb your stress though they are frequently unnoticed.

8. Be a good example. Show others that you have contentment so that they will follow.

9. Be true to your self. You can never find a perfect body. What you have is already perfect for you. It’s up to you to discover the things that others envy on you.

10. Be proud of what you have. Success cannot be measured through wealth, it is through respect. So don’t deny what you have at hand. Instead, share it!

By the moments you finished reading this blog you can start reflecting by telling your immediate kins/friends:

FRIEND, I LOVE YOU AND I THANK YOU FOR BEING WITH ME AND HELPING ME BECOME A GREAT PERSON. YOU KNOW FRIEND, I’M THANKFUL OF WHAT I AM AND WHAT I HAVE.

You can tell this to them in any means you want. What’s important is the message.

THANK YOU FOR READING THIS BLOG!

PHILIPPINE NURSES UNDERPRIVILEGED

December 7th, 2007 by erinsky200701

If you’re a Registered Nurse here in the Philippines, what will make you stay in our country?

a. A satisfying job with many benefits.

b. Opportunities for continiuing professional education.

c. Being with your family.

d. Receiving low salary with few vacation leaves & other benefits.

I’m sure no one will pick the last option, who’s damn fool to want that! But stop dreaming. The last option is what is reality for Filipino nurses who are working here in the Philippines, specially those who work in private hospitals.

Working in a hospital is fun and exciting. Day by day you meet new challenges, chances to prove your critical thinking and application of what you learned in college. I admit that working in a hospital could be a dirty job but it is one of the most dignified work because it is a very passionate deed… imagine, working with sick people doing all means to treat them and if recovery is no longer possible giving them a dignified life till the end.

I have learned plenty of things during my past three months working as a nurse. The experiences I had can never be taught even by the best nursing textbook. Doing the things in the actual way is very far from the imagined "ideals" in nursing. If you are bookish and traditional you will be left over by the fast pace of work in the hospital, specially in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Room. Transporting a patient through an ambulance is a very exciting thing a nurse can do… providing life-saving nursing care while on the go. Other things I learned in my job is how to deal with different people. All patients are unique and you must be sensitive to their cultural norms. Here I learned how to apply the principles of transcultural nursing. Being competent in your job is a key to become a successful nurse.

I love to work as a nurse here in the Philippines because I can serve my country. But why am I taking foreign exams and applying for job abroad like many other nurses do? The answer is obvious if you’re here in the Philippines… nurses here are very underprivileged.

a. Low pay or NO pay

b. Working more than 48 hours a week without overtime pay.

c. Attending seminars at your own cost (no hospital sponsorship)

d. Less benefits and lack of hospital supplies

These are the problems Filipino nurses face day by day here in our country. Are they inhuman? Maybe yes!

What’s the purpose of the Philippine Nursing Act of 2002 (RA 9173)?

It’s just a decoration in the local politics. Actually sometimes it serves as a tool against nurses. Let’s accept the truth… taking up BS Nursing in a prestigious university spending half a million pesos and passing the local board exam is worthless if you render professional service here. "Go abroad to compensate your loss" is the common motto of Filipino nurses. Poor nurses. When can we seek the chance to get rich in our homeland? The answer… NEVER. Filipinos are so democrat, they don’t want to be included among the wealthy 50+ states of USA. I salute Jose Rizal, the national hero, because he wanted our country to be legally recognised as a province of Spain. His ideology is not understood by most Filipinos at all (Why  can’t Filipinos accept they have Hispanic blood at all, so odd denial). If his strategy became succesful maybe by now we are earning euros in our own country.

Why are ther so many nurses and nursing students nowadays?

Correct! They want to go abroad to earn money and invest here in the Philippines.
